Long Beach First Time Home Buyer Program
The City of Long Beach has announced a new First-Time Homebuyer Assistance Program which will provide grants of up to $20,000 for down payment and closing cost assistance for eligible first-time homebuyers. The program is income based and residents must live in Long Beach and meet income requirements to qualify.
The grant program is part of the Long Beach Recovery Act and was created to address the disparity in home ownership amongst families that are of moderate to low-moderate income. This program is only available to Long Beach residents that live within the Community Development Block Group (CDBG) qualified area.
Some other requirements:
Must be a first-generation home buyer. Those raised in foster care are considered eligible.
Must be a first-time home buyer. (Someone who has not owned a principal residence in the past three years - those foreclosed on, I’m looking at you)
Live within the qualified area. (CDBG Map)
Must be pre-approved by a lender for a 30-year fixed mortgage loan.
Must not have more than double ($40,000) the grant amount in liquid assets. (Excludes retirement accounts)
Residents must sign up at to be eligible and to receive program updates.
